Who We Are

My name is Megan, I'm the owner of UP Balloons. Kids know me as Megan the Balloon Princess, or just The Balloon Princess. I've been twisting lengths of colorful balloons into animals, swords, flowers, hats, wings, bracelets and more since October of 2014.

After moving 1500 miles north to Marquette in mid 2018, I started doing balloons at festivals and fairs. I added some sculptures and decorations here and there and eventually thought I could start balloons as a full-time business. I quit my day job and prepared for a new start. That new start came in the form of a global pandemic, putting all events, birthday parties and gatherings of all kinds to a firm halt.

My self-proclaimed balloon “lady in waiting,” Bethany, who had taught and helped me with balloons for years, unexpectedly met her husband and moved 600 miles away in late 2020. I decided to travel at the beginning of 2021 myself, wanting to spend some time quality with my parents and siblings. I continued to practice my balloons on the side, growing my knowledge, confidence and experience. When I returned to Marquette in late 2021, I decided it was time to start up again. I started with a Kraken for a wedding, which was so much fun.

I’ve had the opportunity to do so many more birthday parties, bridal and baby showers, as well as weddings and unique events since I started this all those years ago. I’ve even got a new “lady in waiting,” Dylan, again self-proclaimed. She and a couple others are helping UP Balloons help you have the best experience ever.

I never expected balloons to be such a big part of my life, but I love every minute of it.
